Tactical Project Delivery

Our Business Strategy Consultants can help you create a realistic and achievable long-term strategy.

The Why...

If you’re reading this then you will likely have some knowledge of business improvement practices including Lean and Six Sigma and you’re considering if and how these can be applied within your organisation to deliver targeted improvements.

One outcome of having a clear strategic direction and a stable business operation is that you know where improvements need to be targeted. Many organisations in this position will identify a need for sustainable improvement in one or more key operational metrics – typically these will be focused on quality, cost and/or delivery performance. If this describes your organisation’s position then it’s likely we can help.

Our wider team comprises practical, proven, and time-served expertise at all levels and in most improvement disciplines (including Lean, Six Sigma, and high-performing team dynamics) so you can be assured that we’ll add value where it’s needed to reinforce your existing capabilities. To refer to an old adage levied at some consulting teams, we will not just ‘borrow your watch and tell you the time’.

We work with a promise of a practical, value-centric approach; if we are not confident of adding value to your organisation we will tell you before starting any work together. Our goal is to nurture trusting relationships over time and from which our reputation will grow further.

You will maintain commercial control and will not be exposed to ever-increasing financial liability. We’ll operate on an agreed day rate basis with mutually agreed contract break points throughout.

The ultimate aim is to leave a positive legacy. This will be practically valuable to you in the form of knowledge and tool kits for ongoing use by your teams as well as reputationally valuable to us in the form of positive feedback.

How our Tactical Project Delivery support helps you...

One element of tactical project delivery that is arguably the most important is that improvements must be sustained. To that end, whatever we do together, it will be vital to accurately assess the factors contributing to the need, deliver action including some early wins that build belief among stakeholders, and then leave a legacy by equipping teams with the knowledge and confidence to sustain the improvement effort.

Here we describe a model approach to a typical scenario:

  1. Discovery to accurately assess contributory factors – c.5 days’ rapid assessment conducted against recognised standards of excellence;
  2. Short term containment and early wins to build belief – up to 4x 5 day ‘Rapid Improvement Workshop’ events to solve priority tactical issues identified during discovery phase;
  3. Medium term Continuous Improvement preparation – 1 day LSS YB training to c.20% workforce;
  4. Medium term Continuous Improvement activation – bespoke support to deliver improvements and coach to success.

With a budget of around £25k, these 4 phases of direct intervention will return the investment easily within 2 years and launch a culture of ongoing continuous improvement within your workforce.

However, what suits one organisation will not be optimal for another and it may well be that your specific requirements warrant a different approach. Please contact us for an exploratory discussion with no obligation to take things any further.
