The challenge and objective
The local authority identified a need to define, scope and deploy tactical improvement projects that are aligned with the National Bus Strategy and wider council objectives.
After consultation with Prodelex, it was recognised that, to deliver maximum value in this area, they had a need to:- Ensure the bus service improvement objectives are aligned, clear and understood by all stakeholders;
- Define, qualify, and select tactical improvement projects that will deliver the best value return on investment;
- Equip individual project managers and staff members with the necessary skills and support to deliver projects that follow a logical and efficient structure to deliver the desired outcomes.
The solution delivered
- Senior Leadership workshops to draft and refine the strategic objectives of the programme leading to identification of relevant priority projects (for the LSS project managers) complemented by a robust governance regime to manage performance.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and Green Belt training delivered by Kevin and supported by project coaching and, for those that met the standard, BQF certification.
The results
- Establishment of an Enhanced Partnership Governance Board comprising members from all stakeholder groups with a clear agreed strategic objectives within the first month of the engagement.
- Creation of a cohort of 12 Yellow Belts and 13 Green Belts equipped with the knowledge to deliver projects aligned with the bus service improvement objectives.
- First Green Belt awarded BQF certification after approximately 4 months.
